RIP Paul Walker. With a twist of irony, he passed away tragically in a car accident yesterday.
A teen named Alexander Velicky made, Falskaar, a MASSIVE Skyrim mod in hopes of getting a job with Bethesda but was only to be shot down.
Alex’s talents were not overlooked by everyone though and he has recently accepted a full time position with Destiny creator, Bungie. Kudos to him.
The unfriendly welcome.
After months of waiting and several hours in the cold, we got our very own PS4 only to be one of the ones to be unlucky enough to be stuck with a blank TV after doing the update to version 1.5.
As it turns out quite a few of the PS4 units on retail shelves are suffering a glitch when updated to the new software version. All appear to be roughly the same issue, once updated and restarted the system gets stuck with the power light on a solid blue or slow pulsing blue. While it’s blue it won’t output any HDMI signal. So then you’ve just got your new console, done its near mandatory update and now you can’t use it. WTF.
Don’t do what we did if this happens to you and panic. As it turns out this does not mean your console is dead as many of the internet rumours are implying. You can either do some basic troubleshooting on your own (not recommended) or just call Sony with the number found in your instruction book.
After a lengthy half hour hold, Sony’s rep was very helpful and friendly with us. We had already attempted power cycling, unplugging the power cords, unplugging the HDMI cord and even swapping the HDMI cord but all to not avail. The rep advised us how to boot into Safe Mode and manually update to version 1.5. Once the update processed everything worked just fine, only an hour or so after we had attempted to use it.
As it turned out the issue is actually an authentication issue of the update with the system which causes it not to boot properly. As we were told by Sony’s rep, this issue is almost always fixable and not to worry. The vast majority can be fixed without sending them away, which is the only option because there are to spare retail units anywhere.
This is certainly an issue that we’re surprised Sony overlooked during their testing that is going to be a huge upset or at least serious inconvenience to gamers everywhere though they estimated that only .4% (or about 3000 in North America) of the consoles will have this issue. Only time will tell the actual numbers effected.
If you did get a PS4 hopefully you have better luck than us.

Bloomberg has reported that Microsoft and Xbox may be breaking up!
According to Bloomberg potential candidate for the Microsoft CEO position, Stephen Elop, reportedly would consider the sale of the Xbox division to refocus the company on its primary business drivers, such as Microsoft Office and Windows. The sale would, combined with the potential sale of their search engine Bing, generate up to 40% additional income for the company in 2015.
What would this mean for gamers? Well with all the bad press surrounding the Xbox One over the past few months it is definitely a risky move. Selling the division to the right company could excite and generate huge new business for Xbox, selling to the wrong company could devastate them. While we can only speculate what would happen, it would be interesting to see how a new owner would handle the next gen console two years into its life.
The sale of course shouldn’t make you think that Xbox has been unsuccessful, quite the opposite The sale would be Microsoft liquating successful parts of the company to refocus their business and money into their main business.
We’ll just have to wait and see. The next gen console war just keeps getting more interesting.
